TEC chooses SmartShareSmartShare solves bandwidth problems at TEC for 120 students sharing 2 ADSL lines.
At the business academy TEC (Technical Education Copenhagen), which educates Bachelors of IT camp; Electronics, the network has over a 2 year period been divided into two separate networks, each with its own ADSL line.
The internet behavior of the students has changed a lot over the last couple of years with acceleration of peer-to-peer applications, which is a major strain on the internet connection resulting in very long internet response times.
Several requests to the students about a more moderate usage of peer-to-peer applications on the network had no effect, and TEC where forced to look at different alternative solutions.
TEC has now installed two SmartShare RM-100 routers on its local network. The problem with long response times has been solved. Even frustrating situations where students were waiting for the teachers PC’s to project information from the internet during class has been eliminated.
